Central London is the UK’s premier office market and it is more popular than ever. Take-up rates in January 2023 were more than 20% up in a year according to Savills, and supply in certain markets has halved.

Post-pandemic, demand for the best office space in Central London is increasing by the day– but some places are head and shoulders above everywhere else. The area around Bank is one such area in particularly high demand, and the completion of a £700m makeover of the Underground station makes it one of the most exciting places to do business in London.

Bank was already one of the busiest commuter destinations in the capital thanks to proximity to the Bank of England and Canary Wharf.

However, the addition of six new escalators at Cannon Street, moving walkways between the Northern and City lines, and easy access to the DLR have transformed Bank even further.

It is now one of the most easily commutable parts of London with a 40% higher capacity for commuters. Even at the busiest rush hour times, Bank is now one of the most convenient and easiest destinations for professionals to reach.

TfL commissioner Andy Lord said: “The completion of this major upgrade of one of the Tube network’s busiest interchanges is a hugely important moment for the Square Mile.

“Customers have already told us how the new interchanges are making their journeys quicker and easier.

London mayor Sadiq Khan added: “These extensive works have transformed Bank station into a world-class station, fit to serve a financial district of international renown. Londoners can now benefit from a station with 40% increased capacity, a brand-new entrance on Cannon Street and two new lifts which will deliver step-free access to the Northern Line for the first time.

“London’s Tube network is key to the capital’s wider economic recovery. These updates to Bank station are just one of the ways I am continually improving London’s transport network to build a safer, more accessible and more prosperous city for all Londoners.”
